Please open up the Inspector window and browse the archive of AppleScript actions to get an overview. You may add own AppleScripts as well as change existing actions at your will.
To remotely control iTunes e.g., a trigger has to be set up, i.e. an IR code iRed is waiting for, to which it responds with calling an appropriate AppleScript action.
The creation of this trigger is described in detail in the chapter "Create a Trigger".
The example screenshot below shows a trigger "Sony CD / >", which leads to calling "iTunes / Play/Pause". So you may start and stop iTunes using the "Play" key on your Sony CD RC:
In the lower part of the Inspector window you see the content of the selected AppleScript action, which is a very simple AppleScript and should be very easy to understood.
If you once created a trigger you'll see that it is not very complicated and you gain much comfort in controlling iTunes from sitting on the sofa.
